Q: I sold EFN and bought ECN for hopefully more growth 6 months ago. Just looked and EFN is back down around 9$? I would have thought that EFN would be a big beneficiary of the strong US economy. What are you're thoughts? Do you think EFN is undervalued and a good investment?

Q: Hi Team,
What is your opinion on POW? It appears to be globally diversified and a decent bet in a higher interest rate / potential NAFTA changing environment . What is your midterm outlook for this company as compared to a standard insurance company?
Thanks!

Q: I am having a hard time deciding if I should add to my financials with individual stocks or buy an ETF. XLF and MTUM have holdings that I already own and am ok with adding to these via the ETF and they also hold BAC and JPM which I do not own. Can you please give me your opinion. Sectors and weightings are fine. Thank you.

Q: Andrew McCreath had a banker on his Friday show that made a good case for buy outs coming this year in US banking industry just not the very large banks. The large banks would not be allowed to merge/takeover more banks because of regulatory concerns.
Could you meanttion some of the stronger mid size US banks that would be good candidates for take over and their related dividend as he mentioned that big dividend increases are on the way.
Mike

Q: ZUB rose 2% today despite the fact that the US market was closed. How is this possible?
Q: In financials I own about 2.5% of my overall portfolio in both TD and RY with about 1% in ECN (total of 6%). What would be your recommendation if adding more to the financial sector. Stay with Canadian banks (add to TD or RY or possibly BNS) or add something like SLF OR MFC? Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
Brian
Thanks.

Q: Hello, what do you think of VersaBank ? Can you comment on the valuation and growth prospect over the next few years. Thank you.

Power Corporation of Canada Subordinate Voting Shares (POW)

IGM Financial Inc. (IGM)
Q: I am interested in buying GWO but wonder if I should be buying PWF instead? PWF has a holding company discount of over 15% which seems to imply that I am getting IGM “for free”. But then there is a discount on POW too and I don’t understand the two-level holding company structure -can you explain this? Why does POW not issue POW shares to PWF holders to eliminate one of the levels? Out of GWO, PWF and POW, which one would you buy?
Q: Equitable Group bounced back from last summer when the Home Capital debacle hit to reach its previous high of $72 on January 2nd. Since then, it has declined to just above $66 today - a decline of almost 9%. I see no reason why. Can you provide any insight?

Q: I have some US$, and am looking to buy something that won't be hit by rising rates or NAFTA. I think a large US insurance company might work - what do you think. If that makes sense, could you recommend a name or two? Many thanks.
Q: As a follow up to my original question, was there anything compelling on the conference call today?
Thank you
Thank you
Q: With JP Morgan giving their earnings report tomorrow, do you think the tax changes in the United States are reflected in the current pricing? Also do you think at current pricing that it is a good entry point (new record high)? Would you recommend starting a position today before the report or waiting? Would you recommend this being added to an RRSP (no-withholding tax)?
Finally, I have tried to find that blog post that was written a while ago about what account is best to put certain securities (CDN vs. US vs. Dividend (CDN/US)) but I cannot seem to find it. If you would be so kind to provide a link to it I would greatly appreciate it as I find its a great guide for new investors like myself.
Thanks so much for all your advice and great service! I cannot say how much I learn on a daily basis thanks to you and your team!

Q: What sectors would you consider to be undervalued at this time? Or at least undervalued in relation to the rest of the market? Thanks.
Q: Recently I read an article in my local paper written by Peter and he warned about Split corps and inferred that people are "sucked by the high dividend and went on to say how much better slow steady growing dividend payers are. What I have found about these investments are that they get no love in the investment community but are growing in number and every over night offering is fully filled, and have (if purchased in the right context to your individual needs) preform well. For me a 3% weighting in ftn, 2500 shares, purchased in Feb of 2015 at $8.90 has a cost base of $22250, current price is $10.50 ish =2500 x 10.50= $26250 ( a $4000 gain) BUT the sole purpose for holding this was to add to my living income in retirement. At 2500 x .1258 I am receiving $ 315 a month that I either reinvest in growth stocks or use to spoil my grand kids. I went into this eyes wide open knowing they can suspend payouts as CAN any dividend paying company (ie energy) You say they do not grow dividend well a 4% paying company is probably never going to give me the same payout in my lifetime left. In short I certainly see the pro and cons of these but do not consider myself a sucker for being in one.
Q: I hold ZEB. The banks have been good since 2009 raising dividends. Would those individual dividend increases be passed on and benefit holders of this etf? Thanks, Bill

Q: My TFSA is all in Can $. I have $12000.00 to add this year, so would like your opinion, on the US Tech sector, or the US Bank sector.
I would buy a ETF. At this time would you go hedged or unhedged?
Thanks for your continued support.

Q: I have a question about LB.
There was an announcement on a bought deal basis an aggregate of 2,282,000 common shares of LB by a syndicate of underwriters. Can you explain what would the implications to the stock and company? Is this a good time for an entry? Thanks.
