Q: My question is about Manhattan Bridge Capital Inc ( LOAN on NASDAQ).
The company pays a regular7.6% quarterly dividend and the stock trades in a range of $6.00 to $6.60. The company seems to have quite stable income but is highly leveraged. Nevertheless if the pundits are correct and we have low interest rates for 2020, would it make sense to borrow money at 5% to buy this stock? What could possibly go wrong?
Cheers
Ian
Q: In trying to decide which ETF’s to buy, I am concerned with the credit duration of some.
Ex: XTR 3.78 yrs. ZMI 3.77 yrs. VCNS 7.82 yrs
What is the significance of these in view of the current business cycle mainly interest rates.
Also, at this time would you favour an ETF more or less exposed to bonds currently. Is a fund manager able to quickly sell his bond holdings quickly when interest rates rise, what is their strategy ?
Thank you so much.
Q: On Dec 02 and Dec 04 2019 the stock traded 200K and 350K . Is there anyway to determine who traded these blocks? It is obvious that it's a bought deal as the company generally trades less then 1K a day. Was it insider trading ???
Q: I use the BTSX system in two of my portfolios. Its soon time to adjust for the new year. I have held PWF for a number of years due to its higher yield over POW.
I understand PWF will be merging with POW-any idea when?
Will that mean no more PWF? Will all shares be now be POW at the lower yield?
Will there be a premium for PWF shares?
Would you suggest a switch if there are still going to be two companies? Why?
Thanks
Jeff
Q: Hi,
What are your thoughts on GMP capital? My average cost was $2.80 and the price has declined a fair bit. I was thinking there may be some tax loss selling right now, but was thinking of holding. Is this a bad plan or time to buy more?
Q: I asked a couple weeks ago, but I was too early at that point. My question is on short positions on the Canadian banks: have they moved up measurably since they reported, both on the Canadian and U.S. sides? I'm wondering if the shorts will be out in full force in January again this year, and possibly they're building up positions before they announce.
Q: good morning:
if thinking about slowly starting a new position would you look at pow or pwf and how will dividend be effected? Price seems to be sliding again a bit.
thanks
Q: Over the past week, Trisura has drop of ~5% in spite of having good earnings. There have been a couple of very recent corporate staff changes but otherwise, no news. Would you have thoughts on the loss of momentum? Does Brookfield (BAM.A) still retain an interest?
I like the valuation, growth rate, management stake and conservatism. My main concern is whether they are chasing loan book growth during a period where Canadian personal balance sheets continue to deteriorate. In an unfortunate scenario of net charge-offs rising through their B/E charge-off rate of 24.6%, how quickly could their funding dry up? Does this name have a large short base from the short Canadian Financials camp out of the U.S.?
Do you know the breakdown between secured and unsecured loans within easyfinancial’s $1.03 billion loan portfolio? For the secured portion, what type of collateral do they typically receive?
