Q: My wife and I own POW and PWF respectively in our taxable accounts, both purchased earlier this year. There was an article in the Globe & Mail a couple of days ago about shareholder dissatisfaction with corporate governance, specifically referring to members of the Desmarais family.

Q: The owners are so dismissive of shareowners.

Lost 8.91% in 5 years. (total return)

They own Putnam and feel stuck.

The sons seems to be afraid to do anything so someone said share buyback and that is their best idea.

I do own this stock but everyone speaks so highly of it but that was 12 years ago.

Just like Warren Buffett the last 10 years have not been kind.

Q: Hello 5i Team
Of the three major life insurance companies in Canada (GWO, SLF, MFC) which is the best company to invest for a steady growing dividend stream.
Are there other Canadian life insurance companies that I should look at?
Notwithstanding the tax advantage of Canadian Dividends, should I be looking at US life insurance companies?

Q: Good day,
I have positions in both of these Canadian banks. I do have a long term investment timeframe ahead of me. I am sitting on cash in my portfolio. Do you recommend continue buying at these levels? Or should I wait until the market uncertainty clears, or buy into another sector?

Q: Thanks for your prompt answer on FSZ this morning, agree overall results and the transaction are a net positive. As a followup, I see that Mr. Desjardins (DJM Capital) has sold close to $30 mill. of FSZ shares as part of the transaction. Any concerns regarding this divestiture?
Also, "A favourable decision was obtained from the Autorité des marchés financiers to exempt Fiera from the issuer bid requirements of securities laws applicable to the Share Repurchase" please explain.

Q: Hello,
Our financial weighting is still quite a bit higher than you suggest for a portfolio...so my plan is to sell our (underwater) CIX as well as one or two of our (positive) bank stocks. Appreciate your ranking and thoughts regarding our bank holdings noted above. Thank you.
