Q: Im considering selling my entire portfolio - its close to 2 mill, was over 3 but too much Cnd oil and covid fixed that. Thinking, hearing of a potential sharp downturn. Another 20% drop is too much to bear. I'm retired, living on $100k per year is fine. I'm 61.
Is there a safe place to park money until a vaccine arrives? And is it possible to earn close to 4% safely? IF so - how?? I do worry that this second wave will pound my stock portfolio back to where it went in March

Q: Banks and Insurance Companies.
What would be the impact to the banks and Insurance stocks if they hold steady their dividends and do not increase them when they usually do. Do you feel that they could/would do this.

Q: As far as I can determine banks are the safest investment one could have in the equity market. If there is a safer stock then I would appreciate knowing what it is. The banks survived the 2008 crash, now have stricter regulations and if by chance the banks go under then the rest of the market and the economy will be crushed. Banks pay a good dividend for years, currently paying approx 4% and if you look at the growth over the past 10 years, 20 years then most people would be happy. These are thoughts from an income investor with growth as a bonus. For the fixed income portion in a portfolio why not buy the top 4 or 5 banks or even an etf that holds only bank stocks.
Appreciate your thoughts.

Q: Hello,
how do interest rates affect SLF? Given they are histirically low presently is this a net positive or negative for it's earnings? If and when rates go up, whenever that is, is this a positive for SLF?
What is the current payout ratio for it's dividend? Do you see any catalysts for growing its EPS given the current economic conditions?
Thanks,
Dan
