Q: Hello 5i Research
I have held Visa ,MasterCard and PayPal for a while in my US RRSP account and happy with the performance.Would consider them as an reopening stock and performance even better as people travel more and go out more.
Thanks

I would like your opinion on when GSY might be considered an addition to the Balanced portfolio? Is it a matter of sector weighting that would preclude its inclusion? It seems to be a perfect stock for the folio. Growth and a growing dividend.
Sorry for putting the team on the spot!
It’s horrible having made so many prescient selections that subscribers are reduced to questions like this one. Lol
Q: Hi Peter,
With reported earnings and the potential for dividend hikes later this year, what looks better to you now; Cdn Banks or Cdn Insurance Co's ?
Is there any noticable advantage or disadvantage to holding a covered call on a Company etc if/when they raise their dividend ?
Thank you.
I have held a small position in Crawford for a number of years, mainly for its dividend, low price/volatility, and as a hedge for extreme weather impacts due to climatic change. It tends to do well when there are events that trigger large volumes of insurance claims, as insurance companies can't handle enough claims with in-house staff and then outsource to Crawford & Co. Can I please get your take on this investment thesis and the company? Do you think it's a reasonable hold or do you have a better suggestion in the sector. Thank you.
Q: Following Trudeau's announcement of a tax grab on Canadian Banks, the Royal Bank fell the least amount by a decent margin. Do you have any insight as to why, or is it simply because the Royal is the biggest?
Q: I have a question about 1186
Dear 5i,
The Fiera Capital Investor Fact Sheet for 2021Q1 under the share ownership section states that 17.3% of the shares are owned by two financial institutions. Can you help identify them and the percentages they each own.
Q: When do you anticipate Canadian banks will be able to raise their dividends? And which banks do you think will have the highest dividend increases, once permitted?
Q: I am going into retirement and below are the weightings of stocks held in my portfolio. Although the portfolio performed okay over the years, I wonder if there is too much concentration and would appreciate your ideas on diversification given the economic times we live in. My portfolio is about $2M with an investment loan of $150K for which I use the dividends to repay. Thanks. BNS 37%, TD 18%, CM 14%, BMO 14%, BCE 6%, SRN.UN 6%, RY 4%, POW 1%
Q: I hold the Canadian banks in my dividend portfolio and they have served me well over the years as a core hold.
Should I reconsider these holdings in light of new taxation rules being suggested?
Q: Hello 5i,
Today (Aug. 25) Ross Healy mentioned that GSY is rapidly approaching both a Fundamental and a Technical inflection point at somewhere around $205.00 +/-.
As a conservative, dividend -oriented investor, GSY is almost at a 5.50% Portfolio Weighting as per P/A. I would like to reduce to around 4.0% but was thinking of holding off until it reaches the 6.0% threshold which would mean holding out for around $225.00+/-. So, my question is: in your considered opinion should I just proceed and re-balance now, or try and hold out for 6.0%?
This is in my TFSA and there are no tax implications nor are there any compelling time-frame issues so waiting is not really an issue other than opportunity cost regarding the re-deployment of the proceeds.
Many thanks for any insight you can provide.
Cheers,
Mike
Futu holdings - FUTU:NASDAQ (currently no ticker with 5i) , some say China's Robin Hood, reports next tuesday Aug 31.
Ive been interested in the growth story and the share price has pulled back considerably. Recently it seems the sector is bouncing off lows and perhaps with hopes the Tech Inquisition will end soon.
What are Your current thoughts here on the company, earnings expectations, and current environment?
Q: I would like to get your opinion on shorting Robinhood Stock. It appears direct brokerages are going to start offering commission free trades. What possible moat does the company have to maintain their 42 billion valuation?
