My wife's portfolio is heavily overweight on BCE. Given the recent sentiment on dividend paying stocks from the potential for increases in the interest rates, I was thinking about bringing the weighting down and reinvesting in VIG. Would you recommend this switch based on the potential upside between the two or would there be another stock that you would recommend in lieu?

My question in regarding how ETFs are run. If a ETF provider, wisdomtree, schwab, BMO etc., should go bankrupt/insolvent, what happens to my money in their ETFs? Are these funds held segregated from the firms assets? if so, would it be better to hold companies directly to avoid this?

I read your most recent article "Independant Investor" and I was interested by the ETF with ticker VIG that you discussed. I currently have all of my funds denominated in either Canadian Dollars or gold/silver bullion. I like the idea of the VIG but am a little concerned of buying a US-Dollar asset in a world where the US Dollar is being printed from thin-air. Any thoughts on risks here or if one might be better off buying some sort of CAD hedged version of that ETF?

Q: The price of XRB has increased as rates have trended lower and has recently decreased with the threat of higher rates. This seems counter intuitive for a floating rate instrument which should in part act as an inflation hedge. Am I missing something and is XRB now at an attractive level?
