Q: I've had it with my entire pack of pref shares ( individual and ETF) and am ready to punt the lot. I'd like to replace them all with a bond ETF or even a diversified Canadian equity ETF that pays dividends. Your suggestions are most appreciated. Thanks

Q: As per your recent guidance, with interest rates plateauing, ZRE seems to be bottoming. What would be your opinion re moving some money from VFV, and putting it in ZRE. VFV has done very well and is scheduled to do well in the future. Do you recommend this kind of movement of fixed income from one group to another. Thanking you for the great guidance you have always provided.

Q: PJAN— Innovator U.S. Equity Power Buffer ETF (not in your data base). This ETF sounds fascinating. The fund sheet demonstrates the manager’s fondness for complex word choices and I am not sure that I understood the fund info. Would you be good enough please to explain the ETF’s strategy and tactics?

Is this a security *you* would buy and in what market conditions? Your reasoning with a bit of substance would be very valuable. Thank you.

Q: Hi,

Can you tell me more about this ETF? Their annual dividend is 10.295% as per tmx money and looking at their holdings are solid dividend paying blue chip companies.Since June 2021 their dividends are increasing. Is this worth investing for income and is dividend safe?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks, Sunday

Q: I am looking to transfer money from my sons RESP into a TFSA. He is working a lot with ample overtime and likely won't require the money to cover tuition etc.. Could you please suggest some Canadian and/or U.S. etfs that would provide a well rounded portfolio to start him on his investing journey.

Q: Good morning,

With bond rates moving higher can you suggest your top 3 bond etf's to gain exposure at a low cost. Would holding these in a registered or cash account be best? As always thank you for your time

Q: I am down significantly on these ETF's, down 17% with distribution included on ZPR with it representing 3.6% of my portfolio and down 7% on ZLI or 0.8% with distribution with ZLI representing 3.1% of the portfolio. These were added prior to the rising interest rate environment with the desire for income. Given the unit price have declined so significantly on ZPR (24%), would it be a good move to average down on this ETF in this interest rate sensitive environment? At least the ZPR is mainly held outside registered accounts so the significant capital loss could be used to offset other gains if I was to sell? What would you do with these funds at this point? Hold, Sell, Average down or...?

Q: I have 2 unregistered accounts and hold too much money in HISAs. I would like to invest more in Horizon's total return ETFs that pay no distributions. I have been looking at HBB but the chart looks nothing like similar Canadian bond etfs. Today, July 10th, HBB is trading at the same level it did 5 years ago but XBB is 13% lower today, VAB 13% lower and ZAG 15.2% lower. Can you explain this large difference? Should HBB now track in a similar way to XBB? Thanks!

Q: For tax reasons, I want to buy some ETFs or stocks in my unregistered account, that pay little or no dividends. Which of the Horizon's total return ETFs would you recommend at this time? HSAV seems to be really unstable and I am concerned it could be a money loser in the short term. I read in the G & M that the manager of Langsford Wealth Counsel in Oakville has been buying HXDM with better valuation than the US. Thanks!

Q: I am looking for the top 2 Canadian dividend ETFs to hold mostly in registered accounts. I screened for MERs less than about 0.4 and current yields of about 4.5% or more and came up with: ZDV, XEI and VDY. How would you rank these for long-term holdings; best first. XEI is tied for the lowest MER and has the highest yield, with 29% energy, 29% financial and 17% utilities. VDY has the largest AUM at $2B but high financials at 54% and low utilities at 6%. Finally, I would like to invest in HXH in unregistered accounts but I am concerned about the low daily trading an small AUM at $92M. Thank you!!

Q: MF came out with a list of AI today, and they are all up today, presumably on the news. Is there a concern that this is turning into a bubble? I know there will be spending here, but is it getting away into the danger-zone? I am considering an etf that captures a wide swath of AI. Are you able to suggest something? Thanks!

Q: 5I team: Being a retired income investor and stuck on the nice yield for this fund I can still not be keen on it's substantial return of capital. Can you advise on a better alternative etf or fund for hands off solid yield as a replacement? Tks. Larry
