Q: I'm having trouble understanding why FTN keeps having these unexplained price drops!!Last time it happened I bought a lot of it and sold it for a hefty profit a few days later, which I then invested in FTN.PR which just raised its dividend to 9.25%.Now FTN is back down to where I bought it a few weeks ago!!!The yield is 22% and as long as the NAV remains above $15 it will pay the dividend,NAV is $16.82 as of Sept 15.I know you're not a fan of split shares or short term investing, but would FTN not seem like a screaming buy here???

Q: Hi 5i!
Love your insights provided across your site. Keep it up!
I know you’re not fans of split corps, but I have to ask (as an observer of this stock), what is happening the past week to FTN?

Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Your opinion on Eos as far as risk, stable dividend, possible appreciation is appreciated.
Thanks James

Q: Can I please get your opinion on CYB? It’s been a long term hold in an RRSP and has done well. Do you see it as a continuing long term hold in an RRSP or maybe sell half and put into something else? It is over 10% now.
Q: XTD is a split share corp that invests in shares of TD bank. TD has had some issues but is now seen as somewhat undervalued, with good potential upside. XTD, currently at $4.00, pays a 15% dividend, monthly, as long at the net asset value is above $12.50. It is currently at 12.95. The risk would seem to be the risk that the TD stock underperforms. Would appreciate your thoughts.

Q: What are your thoughts on this fund?
Long term performance and yield are both very strong, in excess of 9%. No covered calls but does have some leverage. Not sure how they achieve 9%+ yield without covered calls but the yield seems consistent and large portion of distribution is capital gains, eligible dividends and ROC.
Never invested in a closed end fund before. What is the difference between this and an ETF?

Q: Is there any news about DFN? Huge volume increases the last two days and the share price has dropped significantly. Dividend was paid out on the 10th. Today is the 11th. Thank you.
Q: What is your current opinion of the MFS Charter Income Trust as a defensive and income instrument?
Q: Why are they consolidating the shares? They are nowhere near a delisting price.
Why do you think the market is unphased by the yield reduction. Even an anticipated cut almost always creates a drop. Occasionally a boost of course.

Q: DPG dropped 20% on june 16th,probably since it cut its usualy stable dividend, for first time since 2016..I own it since a few years in my RRSP : is it still an "acceptable" investment for revenue,or is it too risky to be kept any longer?
Q: I would appreciate an update regarding the payout ratio for this company, and your assessment of both the likelihood of a dividend cut and the relative safety of the dividend after, say, a 50% trim (which today would still leave about 6.5% payout).
Thanks!

Q: I have some reservations about buying individual closed-ended funds, in general; however, YYY is interesting due to its ETF Index approach. Is this a valid income instrument from the perspective of ensuring continued payouts and reasonable share price maintenance?
Q: Given the discount to NAV, what would you consider to be the downside risk to this fund? What about upside potential?
Thank you!
