Q: Peter and Team: I understand and agree with your decision to avoid target prices for stocks, but, having said that, I feel quite frustrated that I am unable to assess the risk-reward profile for a stock. I can only look at the chart and try to extrapolate.

Can you give me a sense of the risk-reward profile for two companies: Evertz Technologies (ET) and Sylogist (SYZ). Yahoo Finance shows 5-6 analysts covering Evertz. The low price target is $28 and the high target is $37. The stock is currently trading around $17. Are those realistic targets? Can you help me make sense of those targets (or provide one)? Yahoo shows no analyst coverage for SYZ. Can you give me a sense of its risk-reward, perhaps by comparing the two stocks? Thank you for continued great service.

Q: Hi,
I bought a 5% position in ACQ, autocanada,@ 40.00, it has now pulled back about 20% from it,s all time high and is still just over a 5% positon in my portfolio. My question is, at this price do I buy another 2%, and go to an overweight position, and trim when it hits 10%, or hold what I have and play the slow and steady game. I realize you probably would like more info for a proper answer, but reading your answers to the last few questions on ACQ. I get the feeling your fairly comfortable with this growth stock, and with the recent pullback it looks like a good time to add.

Q: I currently hold WPK. Is it worthwhile to switch to CCL.B or just hold on to WPK at this time. Taxes are not an issue.

Q: Peter: I have been looking at Sylogist, SYZ for the past few days as it reaches new highs. I'm puzzled by the reporting of volume. For example, today, the official count is 2615 but a look at trades on TMX.com shows many thousands more. Why the difference especially on what appears to be quite an illiquid stock, especially if you want to trade. Thank you and kind regards,

CGX during strong market conditions continues to slide. Can you tell me please whether your consider CGX sell hold or buy and any observations you have at this time for your recommendation?

Q: I have always been leery of investing in the auto industry because of its cyclicality. However, you have been quite positive on three companies - Magna, Linamar and AutoCanada.

I have a two part question. Which do you prefer between Magna and Linamar and secondly, if I purchased one of those companies, should I expect it to react similarly to changing economic conditions as ACQ would (ignoring any company specific issues)?

Q: re: CGX

my question July 9 asked about the effects NetFlix/HBO types of products might be having on the box office. you mentioned that shouldn't be a concern but, you also mentioned "the box office this year is not as strong as expected..." and you didn't have any concerns on CGX right now in general.

Today CGX is down to it's lowest value since Sept 2013. I have to wonder if my money might not be better put to work in another company. I have this feeling if I sit on this long term I could very well continue to see a slow decline in value.

What are your thoughts after reading my comments?

Q: Peter & Co.,
Horizon North Logistics (HNL) has had to evacuate 200 workers from one of their camps because of a fire threat in Northern BC. This will no doubt impact earnings and the stock took a bit of a hit which continues its down trend.
Do you see the current price as a buying opportunity or is it better to avoid the stock until the fire issue is resolved?

Q: General comment on ACQ.With all due respect to your positive opinion,I have 3 issues.Recently,it did a equity financing of 2.565m shares @ $78.,but its owner,CAG sold 2.5985m shs @ $78.If CAG did NOT sell,it may not have to do the financing.Why did CAG sell,even though it still owns 9.6% after sale.2)Reportedly,auto sales is @ a record level with easy & cheap financing.A source pointed out this could be a "auto bubble" similiar to "sub prime"3)What will be the effect once interest rate starts to climmb?Yellen indicated that bank rate will not increase until mid 2015,but many analysts are predicting US 10yr bond rate could increase fr current 2.55% to 3%-3.5% by year end.Thanks

Q: Hello Peter!
I have no room for contribution to my TFSA account for this year, but I want to buy now ACQ and put it into my Unregistered account and hold it until next year and then move it "in kind" to my TFSA acc.in form of yearly contribution. Is this good strategy and do I have to pay tax on capital gain if price of ACQ go up.
