Q: Hello 5I team

I am interested in MRC, I see that the company is trading well below book value (although I think it trades below book regularly) and the P/E ratio looks appealing as well. The debt levels look reasonable compared to other real estate based companies. Would you add this company to a well diversified portfolio or would you pick another real estate company which ones would you pick if so? Would you consider their properties to be high quality ( they look good from their web site but then every company makes their properties look good)? Do you think that they trade below book value because of the low div yield? What do you think of the management, have they made good acquisitions in the past, have they kept their balance sheet strong? Is this company well diversified geographically as well as sector wise ( industrial, residential, commercial, ect)? What caused the almost $8 dollar drop at the end of July, I didn't notice any news that would have caused this.

Thank you for your opinion.

Q: Anyone who put in a “STOP” was murdered today .
CSU traded as low as $454.00 today … shares were picked up by traders who had software that shows the stop orders on their screens…
By US standards CSU trades relatively thinly - buying the entire sell board of CSU is a no brainer for Goldman and others ... the retail investor is a victim who can't even protect his wealth.

There is NO price low enough to prevent deep pocketed vultures because Level 3 Quotes are available to the privileged few . This is unfair ... and I am angry. I guess this is why you aren't a fan of Stops.

Q: Hi Peter and Team, looking for clarification regarding your ten picks for Greg in the current selloff, regarding Sunlife as a pick, wouldn't SLF which has a growing presence in Asia, with net income and operating net income in the region more than doubled, become an issue due to China currency affect?

They had a great quarter but how will SLF's international businesses be affected going forward, especially considering the Asian currency issues?

Thanks!

Q: We depend on dividends for almost half of our income, but my gains on Parkland have fallen from 43% at the end of April to about 13.5% today. Can you tell me what has happened to PKI, and should I continue to hold for the dividend or sell and take my profit? - Ted

Q: Hello: I follow everything on this site about HCG because I'm down 46.27% on this stock. As an investment, I'm wondering if and when I'll b able to recover what I've lost. I'd like to hold the stock for a long term hold, but I am not married to it, and if it will take several years, that's several years of my capital tied up with a stock "waiting" just to break even. It's held in a RIF account. What is your advice? Wait? Sell?

Q: What are your thoughts on Black Diamond as a dividend/long term investment. They are down a great deal due to oil. Also ROE and ROIC has gone down the last few years (usually not a good sign).

Would it be a good time to buy? Is the dividend sustainable?

Q: Noticed the questions around ROE here and your updated report. I just read the Q2 update presentation on the companies website and saw that the ROE has declined from 32% in 2005 to just above 19% in the most recent quarter in an almost steady straight line lower. HCG's stated objective is ROE above 20%. While the ROE is still high, the trend on ROE is not positive and is not meeting their stated objective. Yet you give it an A rating and an avg ROE of 24.7% over 5 yrs. Is the downward trend in ROE a concern to you and the team?
