Q: Hello Peter and 5i team,
Thank you for your opinions in the past. We own a lot of DH Corp stocks and want to trim some for tax purposes. We could buy back after 30 days or buy a different fin tech stock. What is your favourite in this space currently?
We will be watching Ryan this evening.....good luck....
Q: According to a BNN guest, MDA has been negotiating a procurement structure that allows them to compete for US military contracts but that allows them to retain their Canadian domicile for head office & taxation. Approval is expected this fall assuming they are successful.
Do you have any more info or opinions on this? Thanks!
Q: Is DHX.B a buy at these levels? It reported earlier this week and hasn't performed well. Is the down trend warranted or should the stock price stabilize soon and start to come back?
Q: CSU is struggling quite a bit lately to get to a better price. As it is highly recommended, and likely to resume its path of success, is there a problem with the company ?
Q: About Patrick's question on HomeCapital... in case it helps members, I couldn't help but share my experience with investing in GoEasy. It was a wild ride after buying it about a year ago. When the shares hit 17, I sold 1/2. I thought "5i said it's cheap and growing but there must be a problem with the company!". Then, GoEasy, broke-out and shares hit 25.00, a 45% increase from my sell point. It's harder than expected to hold-on to positions that we buy with the *intention* of holding for a long time. However, much more painful than holding a weak stock is to see it recover massively after selling. Since this is not a growth by acquisition story like CXR and VRX, and unlike those, HCG has a 10 years+ history, a non-trader will probably do best by no longer watching the daily ticker/news. Don't do what I did with GoEasy. Wait a year. The 5% buyback should help.
Your latest report on MDA ends with "We believe the lack of cooperation in the shares needs to be reflected with a downgrade in the rating."
Given that your last report for KBL gave it an A- rating, and it isn't performing as well as in the past, if you were writing a new report for KBL, would it also be downgraded a notch or two?
We hold KBL in several accounts, and I'm contemplating a switch in at least one account, but welcome your valued advice, as always, before making any moves.
Q: Hi guys, I have had a good run in A&W, seems like the momentum is slowing, anything to be concerned about here? When is the next qtr beig annouced what are the expectations? Also bonus question, how does the A&W root beer fit into this company? do they make money off the soft drinK, is the soft drikl revenue material?
Q: Over the past year HCG is down ~ 15% while FN is up ~ 45%. FN has an attractive yield and low PE ratio ~ 13 according to TMX. I hold most stocks in your balanced portfolio so wonder if it would be time to sell HCG and replace with FN.
Appreciate your comments on this trade. Thanks to your recommendations in BE portfolio I own many profitable stocksI would not have bought otherwise.
Steve
Q: I manage finances for my 93 year-old mother-in-law (she is demented but fortunately still a nice lady). Her investments are mostly dividend-paying stocks. I do need to raise some capital for her care. I am hesitating between selling shares in K-Bro Linen versus Boston Pizza Royalties IF. I would appreciate your opinion. Thank you.
I thought in this new world of media, content would be king and DHX Media has it in spades. The stock has been weak and getting weaker every day for over a month, what would account for this. Also do you see this company getting taken out by a larger player like a Disney or Viacom or is it too small?
Q: Amaya is a small portion in my portfolio. I bought it several months ago when its price is lower. Now, I have a 10% gain. What do you think about its future potential? sell or hold? THANKS
