Q: Hi, REITs have seen a strong YTD and 52 weeks returns, on the back of market volatility and "lower rates for longer" syndrome, more so after BREXIT uncertainty. I have no REITs in my portfolio now. Your recent report on Chartwell Housing is interesting. Based on demographics tailwind and low interest rates environment, if I want to initiate position in one REIT name, will CSH.un fit the bill ? Also, do you think current level at $15.70 is reasonable, although it's flirting with 52 weeks high? Thanks

Q: Peter & Ryan,
What's your current take on MDA? I have a rather large 7% position, and I am getting concerned that the stock is essentially where it was three years ago and I am not being paid highly enough to wait for returns to appear.

Do I owe it to the incoming CEO for a qtr or two to see if he can ignite the stock? I am a buy it and forget it type of investor, as long as fundamentals don't shift to the negative.
Many thanks.

Q: Since you published your most recent report on March 8th. $51.6m of new equity capital has been raised by a fully oversubscribed bought deal at then current share price with about 765000 shares paid for by all directors and some senior officers. The new capital was apparently used to pay down drawn credit and despite the dilution share price has risen modestly. The Debt/Equity, Insider Ownership, Net Margin (probably got worse) and CR boxes in the sidebar in your report would probably all change. But the Fort McMurray fire has caused another $5m estimated cost to adjusted EBITDA, and I suspect you may regard the present condition of Newalta worse than 2009, which it survived. Bottom line - are you any more optimistic about survival than you were in your report?

Q: Hi 5i,
What do you make about Amaya's not allowing media and non shareholders at the meeting on Tuesday. Is this level of secreacy warranted. I am down 15% and don't mind holding on for the turnaround but not sure if this company is as transparent as it should be with its shareholder's and the future prospects of taking the company private.
Do you see this a a warning sign.
I appreciate your thoughts. Antoine

Q: You rate this as an "A"; but, when I check my info provided by CIBC Investors Edge: debt/Equity is 2.8X, ROE is basically 0, P.R. is crazy high and P.E. equally so. They have issued a lot of common and preferred shares as well and must have a heck of a lot of non-cash write-offs which distort a lot of the metrics, I guess? What is the story on a pure cash basis then?
