Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Why do the shares since the BUY announcement only change between $3.28 & 3.29 & generally on a daily volume of +/- 1,000,000 shares. It just seems to me that most shareholders would want 3.25 or close thereto unless you owned only 1-2000 shares. For myself & friends, we own in the range of 25 - 40,000 shares each. We would sell for a 1 or 2 cent drop just to move capital but not .08 cents. Time is money!

Q: I am somewhat perplexed as to what to do with my DHX shares. While guidance for the company is muted for next year, I am wondering if profitably is the best way to measure this company. Personally, I had thought that its content was what was going to ultimately be the value in this company. Does the company (or analysts) provide current valuations of its assets or are they measured only on book value? Or is profitably still a key indicator of value, suggesting that the programming assets by definition mustn't be all that valuable or the company would be doing better. I am wondering if this may be a comparable situation to companies that have monetized their real estate assets to gain added value.

Appreciate your insight.

Q: MDA has dropped a lot in the last few days due to a takeover that has not been well received by the market. Is it time to sell MDA and move on, or is the drop overblown and time to add to an existing position?

Although much much smaller than MDA, what is your opinion of MAL as an investment in the aero and defence sector.

Q: Good morning Peter and Team,

You have said that you prefer to "sell the losers". What criteria would you suggest to decide what to sell, and when
to sell it? Specifically, in a balanced portfolio, I am frustrated with HLF as it's down 28%. Your recent answer to Lee
in which you expressed disappointment in their earnings release has caused me to question continuing to hold HLF.

In the Consumer Staples sector, we hold ADW.A, ATD.B, ECI, HLF, PBH, and SAP. We also have a small amount of XST for re-balancing as it's a commission-free ETF in our iTrade account. (I happily note that XST is a top-performing ETF in the Canadian Money Saver).

If we were to dump HLF, what would you suggest we add to among our existing holdings in this sector? My feeling is that there are better opportunities elsewhere, but as always, I appreciate your insight and advice.

Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB) has completed the acquisition of Spectra Energy Corp. (NYSE:SE). To reflect the issuance of common shares as part of the transaction, the relative weight of Enbridge will increase in the S&P/TSX Composite and Capped Composite, the S&P/TSX 60, 60 Capped and 60 ESG, the S&P/TSX Composite Dividend, the S&P/TSX Composite High Dividend, the S&P/TSX 60 Carbon Efficient, the S&P/TSX 60 Carbon Efficient Select, the S&P/TSX 60 Fossil Fuel Free, the S&P/TSX 60 Fossil Fuel Free Carbon Efficient, the S&P/TSX 60 Fossil Fuel Free Carbon Efficient Select and the S&P/TSX High Income Energy Indices at the open of trading on Tuesday, February 28, 2017."

Do you think that the increased weight for ENB shares in the S&P indices will result a buying pressure on the stock price, on Feb 27&28 ? Should it be material ? What are your views on ENB now, once Spectra merger has closed ? Thanks
