Q: I read your answers about Topicus shares from the CSU spinout. I have 50 CSU shares, so at a rate of 1.859817814 I would get 92.99 Topicus shares. You can't get any closer to a whole number than that. From what you said the number of spinoff shares is rounded DOWN. So even with 0.99 of a share they won't give me a whole share of Topicus? So I would end up with 92 Topicus shares plus some cash?

By the way, how/why did they come up with such a fraction? Why couldn't they just make it simple: you get 2 Topicus shares for every 1 CSU share (and then work backwards to make the math work)?

Q: I forget to ask another question about CSU shares. My CSU shares are on the US side of my non-registered account (so that I collect the dividend in US dollars). With the spinout of the Topicus shares are there any ramifications of having the CSU shares on the US side of my account? Will the "dividend" be calculated in US dollars or CA dollars (given that they pay their regular quarterly dividend in US$)? Should I journal the shares back to the Canadian side of the account? If yes, is it too late to journal them back to the Canadian side of the account given that the ex-dividend date is Dec 23rd, and my broker wouldn't complete the journalling transaction until Dec 24th or after Christmas?

Q: 1) Is today the 22 of December the last day to buy shares of CSU and get Topicus shares?
2) When do the Topicus shares start trading on the Vancouver exchange? Would it
be on the dividend date Jan 4?
3) The last release said, "the common shares of Constellation will commence trading on an ex-dividend basis at the opening of markets on December 23, 2020. "
Does this mean that CSU will start trading tomorrow at a discount to reflect the Topicus shares without Topicus trading?
Thanks for your great service.

Q: Hi, Peter, I have watched CSU for a long time but always hesitant to finally purchase. With the spin-off date set, is it better to buy CSU now than afterwards? Is CSU a good buy at this time for 5 + year hold in a RESP?
It looks like 5 shares of CSU (1.859817814) yields 9 shares of topicus as long as the purchase is made before record date. So 5 shares might be the optimal minimum. Does the purchase have to be completed before Dec 23? Your insight on this is much appreciated!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Q: Hi 5i team,
Looks like you guys were right (again) on GC. They negotiated a new price of $45 over the weekend. The original proxy was due today. I did not vote as at the time the major shareholders opposed the deal. They now all support it as I read the news release, so I would support it as the game is over. Proxy voting is extended to Wednesday. I just want to confirm that whether or not I vote has no bearing on my disposition of the shares. If I get lucky with a takeover, I tend to let it run a bit but sell before the closing date, which I think is 2nd Q, 2021.
Thanks again.

Q: Getting cash in lieu of a full share of BEPC seems a bit cheeky to me. We were supposed to get a full share for any fraction.
I received $31.81 for half share. A full share is would have been worth $63.62. At the close on Friday that share was worth $66.98.
I didn’t see any mention of cash in lieu of fractional shares. So as of Fridays close I’m out $35.09.
Does anyone else think the same way I do?

Q: Good morning, ENGH announced a special dividend of $1.50. I believe this amounts to ~ $83 million, representing ~ 34% of their Oct/20 year-end cash balance. One might have hoped the ENGH Board foresaw 'better' ways to use this cash to advance the firm's market position. 5i has been positive on ENGH for some time. Does this large dividend change 5i's views on ENGH in any meaningful way as a solid investment going forward? Thank you. Edward
