Do you have any comments about this company? Many thanx.

Q: could I get your opinion on emerging markets and the effect of the higher U.S. Dollar and debt. I own some emerging market etfs and was wondering if I should reduce my position which sits at %5 and if I reduce where should I place the funds.

Q: To Denis' message about the Verizon spin-off from Vodaphone, I am in the same situation. He would have received a T5 covering the dividend 'amount' as I did.
The same thing happened the year before with my Abbott shares when the company spun off Abbvie. In that case, Abbott actually offered shareholders the Election option to defer the dividend but I got a T5 anyway and the CRA taxed me accordingly. I'm still trying to contact them about that since I submitted all the relevant paperwork with my return.
Perhaps another member with accounting expertise would care to comment?

Sorry I didn't post this sooner.

Q: I noticed that this UK bank sells at a discount to the tangible book value. Is there a reason that I should avoid buying this stock?

Q: I have owned these two equities for several years. Both are down 80+%. I know, I know, I should have bailed a long time ago. Your advise please, should I sell and move on or continue holding. Thanks so much.

Q: Hello 5i,

Looking to buy PCCW Ltd (PCCWY) and would like your comments. Also, my brokerage resource shows a big difference in company size (10X) between ticker symbol PCCWY and PCWLF. Why would that be?

Thanks,

Mark

Q: If I understand correctly, the Chinese government lifted some restrictions, and due to it, a lot of money from China has been moving into the Hong Kong market. This might explain why the chinese market has gone up 40% in 1 year. TD Waterhouse tells me that the PE ratio on ZCH is 11.5. That's 60% cheaper than the TSX. (a) Do you think this move by the government will be transformational for that market is could bring their valuations close to the north-american markets? (b) with canadian dollars, would you buy XCH? CHI.A seems to be the only other option but it's 8x smaller in size.

Q: Hi There
I wonder if you can briefly explain the structure of this group of companies, which includes MGU-N, MQU.un-T and MQI.un-T, with a view to potentially choosing one for rising income. It seems shades of Brookfield (Brascan) - never really sure where the meat is.

Thanks

Q: Hi Peter and Team

What do you think of Constellation Brands now that it has initiated a dividend? It has risen quite a bit over that past few months but the chart still looks pretty good. Is the valuation reasonable?

Thank you!

Q: Hi,

I read your response about Rio Tinto. I'm currently deciding between Rio and BHP for exposure to the materials sector. I currently have a small 2% position in Western Forest Products, but no base metal exposure. Which do you prefer between BHP and Rio and do you prefer the super majors vs canadian companies like First Quantum and Lundin?

Q: I have held RIO for some time hoping that it would recover. I realize it is cyclical but would like your opinion on whether it is worth holding or whether there is a better place for my money.

Really appreciate this service. Thanks, as always,

Q: The corruption scandal that is hitting Brazil's Petrobras, a number of high ranking government officials and several CEO's of oïl service companies has sent the country's economy into tailspin. It wouldn't be an exageration to say that there's blood in the streets of Brazil right now, which means that many otherwise profitable companies are selling at a deep discount. Companhia Brasileira de Distribuicao seems to be one of them. Based on what your Bloomberg terminal says about the company, would this be a good time to buy CBD or would you prefer to wait until the dust settles?

Q: I'm thinking of buying a European large cap ETF like FEZ or ZEQ. What do you think of European equity prospects for the next year? I'm trying to understand the impact of the ECB QE policy, the strong US dollar/weak Euro and a possible Greece-exit factors into Euro equity prospects for the rest of the year
thanks

Q: My question is not about Vivendi per se but rather about activist investors who buy large numbers of stocks in underperforming companies (such as Vivendi) and then pressure these companies to break up into smaller businesses purportedly to boost shareholder value. Does this tactic always have the effect of improving returns for shareholders? Or are there times when it's better to wait until the dust settles? When I think of CP's huge gains after Bill Ackman's involvement, buying this company is hugely tempting.

Q: Hello Team,
PHG has been going 'sideways' for some time now, and I am considering a switch to GE (or another stock you might recommend). As the Euro-zone economy appears to be recovering with QE, would this move be premature?
Thank you for your insight!
