Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Inevitably, when someone asks about the best NG companies in Canada, TOU and ARX are normally in the mix. So setting those two aside, I would appreciate your opinion on three other stocks in that sector that don't receive nearly as much attention. The stocks in question are Headwater Exploration, Spartan Delta and Pine Cliff Energy.

Thanks as always

Q: Hello,
Could you please recommend five to six high yielding Canadian stocks and REITS that you would feel confident investing in right now? Safety and high yield is my goal. A brief explanation/justificaton for your picks would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Q: I purchased Tamarak(TVE) based on many recommendations, as well as yours
- Many people and firms continue to like and recommend this name...

- CFRA has a Hold, with a Negative Growth Rating...

- Price , Chart/Trend have Not been doing well...

- There is a nibble of insider buying

Questions:
1. Would you suggest Hold, Buy more or Sell for another...

2. Why does it seem like negative trading sentiment these days and poor current stock performance, when overall the stock is liked and recommended by many...?

3. Paramount Resources(POU) - I have heard a few Positive recommendations on this company... I think Leon Cooperman had good things to say as well...
- CFRA has a Hold, but gives a Positive Growth Rating

4. Would you recommend staying with TVE or consider POU...? Or Others..?

Thanks

Q: Hi 5i,

Currently I have full positions in BN and BAM. With a goal of increasing income would you add a new position in BIPC or BEPC?

Thank you!

Q: I have owned CJ since July 2022, its SP has been very much flat during that period. I do have a bit of cash sitting on the sideline and I wonder if I should top up a bit more on CJ, or just cash out and move onto another name.

Patience may be virtue in investing but there are other more lucrative returns out there. What's your take on CJ in the next 12 months or so? Thanks.

Q: I have been fortunate to come into a windfall of cash from a relative, and I am interested in taking new positions in the following securities with this new cash. Please note, my existing portfolio is fairly well diversified across all sectors in North America.

Can I please get your long-term opinion on these new securities I wish to invest in. Do you see any issues with respect to these investment choices? I have money to invest and feel the urge to plunge into the market at this time.

CSH.UN, MRC, ALA, MPCT.UN, TRP, CVS, LIFE.U, TEVA

Thanks

George

Q: If one has exposure to renewables through a large position in Brookfield Corporation (owner of 25% of BEP) and Fortis, do you think it makes sense to hold onto a small position in Northland Power? (which has showed promise over the years but has unperformed the market significantly the past 18 months)

Q: Good day, what are your thoughts on the prospects for natural gas and what are your favourite US and CDN ways to play it?

Q: I sold my TOU & ARX about 2 months ago when the price of gas dropped and I was glad I did because both stocks drop app 20%. Right now the price of gas is still only about $2.30 and I hear that there is currently an over supply of Gas in North America (not sure about Europe - but I don't believe either company can get Gas to Europe yet) but both TOU and ARC are both rising. Why? Based on the current price of GAS both companies will see a huge drop in earnings this year. What am I missing??

Q: Gotta say I’m confused, the reason Aqn dropped so much when it reported the cost to acquire Kentucky with rising interest rates was going to handcuff for future acquisitions and also had to cut their dividend,so when they announced they were not going to proceed I thought probably like others getting out of this deal would be a HUGE break and short term catalyst actually results in a further 5.2 % drop, what am I missing…thanks
