Q: I am finally going to dump my AQN holdings and would like to redeploy capital to get similar dividend yield. I hold hold postions in all of the other stocks listed. How would you rank order them in terms of value/upside and are there any particular standouts which you would recommend for a buy now. Thanks

Q: Imperial is doing a modified Dutch auction. I know in general in past comments you seem to have suggested not tendering to these offerings, I think at least in part because if you still believe in the company then after the shares are bought back you own a bigger piece of a company you already like? What is the opposite side of this decision, why do people tender to these offers? Are you aware of anything in this particular offering that makes it attractive? (As an additional wrinkle, if I read the details correctly, if the shares are held by an IOL employee in their company savings plan, the disposition would be considered a dividend for tax purposes as opposed to a capital gain). Any thoughts appreciated.

Q: A little while ago I asked 5i what the current yield was for UMAX and HMAX as I wanted to target the yield for an entry point . Could 5i give me the formula to use so I can do this on my own ? Use HMAX as an example to illustrate using the formula ..... Thanks Garth

Q: I have held NPI for sometime and am down almost 8%. I know you're not a big fan of the stock currently and prefer BEP, H or FTS. That said, 9 of 9 analysts are rating NPI as a Strong Buy. None of the others are rated as highly. What are you seeing that they do not?

Q: It seems like dividend payers are starting to respond to the possibility that interest rates may have come close to their peaks. Some Canadian and dividend payers are down substantially. I'm looking to invest in some of these companies that I hope I can look back a year from now and say -- that was a smart investment! Please list ten strong companies that you think are great buys today for income and capital appreciation.

Q: I know you don't like comparing ETFs to single stocks...but I'm going to put a question out there anyway. I currently hold TELUS in a non-registered account. As I've held it for a very long time, I'm up 20%, but I feel the stock is stalled for a number of reasons. Given that I bought it for the dividend as well as some growth, I would appreciate your advice on trading it for HMAX. Please compare total estimated growth for both T and HMAX over the next 3-5 years. Additionally, with interest rates expected to begin falling next year, how would that impact the price of HMAX? Thank you.

Q: I own the above high dividend yield Canadian stocks, just under 4% yield and up. I am looking to add maybe 10 to 20 % to 4 or 5 positions. The yield on these is enough for us now so no hurry to sell anything.
Retired, but still looking at safety of capital. I have left out O&G plays and other potentially riskier plays. (except Enbridge)

Which of these, or other stocks do you believe have the greatest potential for price appreciation over the next couple of years if/when interest rates drop.

I am looking for your top 5, here but feel free to add other picks.

Q: In a recent answer about BIR's drop following its quarterly release: "Considering strong growth is still expected in 2024, the stock's decline seems a bit harsh to us. The balance sheet also remains in excellent shape. We would be fine holding."
I'm curious if you would buy at this level or hold off for now. If holding off what would you like to see happen before buying?

Q: I've owned AltaGas for several yeras and it's finally coming back up to my ACB. I'm thinking of selling when it hits the even point and moving onto something with more growth.
Do you have any love for ALA? Or would you agree there are more enticing companies in the sector with better growth and income?
