Q: Hello 5i,
I couldn't find an answer for this question, so I hope it isn't a repetitive one. If so, my apologies.
Given that BCE will cut the dividend (even if just for argument's sake), what will be the impact on the share price? In your experience, does the size of the dividend cut generally equate to a similar sized rebound in price, or a fraction thereof? If a 50% dividend cut, what might be the potential rebound compared to a complete elimination of the dividend?
And, finally, any sense of when the board would want to have that decision made?
Many thanks for your insights - much appreciated, as always!!
Cheers,
Mike

Q: Back in August 2024 it was mentioned that if the SSSG trends for PZA flatten out for the later part of 2024 it may be worth considering. Did they flatten out and is it worth considering now.

“Same-store-sales declined again in Q2 paired with royalty pool sales and adjusted earnings declining. We want to monitor the declining SSSG trends, and if they can flatten out over the second half of the year, we would then be comfortable stepping in.”

Q: Can you name a handful of ETF options for long term holds in my son's RESP account. Growth, dividend, and balanced. Looking for exposure in Canada and USA. I don't want the headache of managing stocks for this portfolio. I'd rather have something that I can just buy and not look at it for 15 years until he needs it.

Q: Regarding BCE under performance. In your opinion do you think a CEO replacement is in order and might rejuvenate the stock price and give investors more confidence in management. It seems to me that the current CEO is "reaching" for growth by looking South to a more competitive market and it won't end well. Has the board at BCE ever replaced their CEO? If I understand correctly the CEO said the dividend was not going to change in 2025 and from your last post you stated the board might reduce it. Am I incorrect or is this another example of misinformation from the current CEO?

Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
I have never owned an auto stock. I realize competition is fierce and Telsa has an edge. However Ford is a survivor and is an American icon and so cheap...Please give the pros and cons of owning Ford. Or is the auto industry just too unpredictable to take a risk? Thanks for your assistance which is always valuable.

Q: I’m considering finally selling my BCE shares and would appreciate 5i’s top five Canadian choices to replace my BCE holding. Please understand that I need to replace the income that I receive from my BCE investment but not necessarily looking for such a high yield as that is most likely not sustainable.. My main criteria is dividend sustainability going forward with average mid single digit yearly dividend increases. Many thanks.

Q: On Jan 7 25 you advised: Our current top 5 Canadian dividend growth stocks are BAM, FTS, ENB, SLF, CNQ. Could you provide an additional 15 Canadian equities with annual dividend growth as I want to set up a portfolio of mostly CAD dividend growth stocks. Please exclude any equity that does not have at least $250M in market value. Thanks

Q: Dear 5i
Between my wife and i we have 3 RRSP accounts. I wanted to add some more utilities stocks to the portfolios assuming now was a good time to do so . I'm having problems deciding between PPL , FTS , and TRP . Should i put PPL in one account , FTS in the second account and TRP in the third account or would you advise to pick the best one of the three and put that one in each of the RRSP accounts ? If you have other suggestions that would be great as well .
Thanks
Bill C
