Q: How woulnerable are these stocks because of their location w.r.t oil? Can you suggest the least woulnerable sector in a rising interest rate environment?
Many thanks, Joe. P
Q: Hi 5i: DCI seems to have resumed its downward creep today. Is there any particular news, or is it just a bad day in the market? The dividend is now close to 10%, which seems a tad too good to be true. I'd appreciate your advice on this one. Thanks.
Q: The price of CSU has increased since they reported their earning on Feb 25th. Is it still a buy or has your view changed? I would like to buy it but price seems to be going higher all the time.
Q: I have just read Ryan's article on "Perfect Stocks". The first thing I did was add the dividend yield to the table and, of course, Torstar jumped out at 8%. Then I looked at the chart for TS.B and was surprised to find that this 'perfect' stock was $20 10 years ago, $9 5 years ago and is now about $7. What is 'perfect' about this performance? It makes me question the significance of the criteria that were used to judge excellence.
Q: I purchase this in Nov. at $39.00.and today it is at $37.96.
Could you please provide your advice as to whether there is any point in continuing holding here. On a side note I purchased cxr a week ago and up 15% in one day. :)
Q: I am up on AQN but it seems to be faultering lately. Should I take my profit and run or is there something going on that I do not know about. Or should I just be patient.
I'm thinking of adding a position on a renewable energy stock such as BLX or BEP.UN. Any comment about what's the best choice for income with some growth?
Q: I have recently been picking away at these preferred shares in the $14-15 range. This particular issue is a rate-reset which is going to reset on June 30th at Gov't 5yr + 1.28%, but there also is an opportunity to convert to a floating series prior to the reset date. So, the question is: Should I convert to the floating series in light of a market that seems to be indicating higher future rates? Canada should eventually follow the US in raising rates, correct? Thanks.
