Q: Is there an ETF listed on the TSX that replicates fairly closely Barclays Global Aggregate Bond Index? If so, what is your opinion of the fund as a core vehicle for the fixed income allocation of my portfolio, in addition to laddered GIC's? Many thanks!

Q: Hi I have some money that I want to park for a few years in a couple of stocks that are considered conservative. I am thinking of ALA and Chemtrade. They both seem reasonably priced. I will be reinvesting the dividends. Are these good choices and can you recommend a couple of others? I have considered SLF but it sure moves quickly based on interest rate news or rumours. Thanks, Bill.

Q: Hi,
I've found myself having a position in both these companies. Do you see long term value in keeping both, or do you think there's too much overlap between them? I have been thinking about buying into marijuana stock now and would be rolling any money from a potential sale into it.

Thanks

Q: KWH.UN has dropped quite significantly, even though they have declared a dividend increase and improved numbers all round last quarter (EBITDA, Revenue, Customer base, etc). Any reason for the drop that you can see, or is it just the run from Canada and income stocks. Would you rate it a buy at these prices for the income investor?

Q: My portfolio is light on industrials as I only own wsp and sis. What else could I add? I'm not comfortable with nfi as I find it expensive. What are 4 or 5 names that you like in the industrial sector. Would a rail company be a good idea as I beleive they fall under industrials.

Q: Since mid-year when VNR hit $23, it has been on a steady decline and then, of course, with the new threat on renewables, it has dropped considerably. Q3 showed weakness in Gaz Metro net income and now I await YE results. Any insight into what Q4 looked like? Should I sideline this one and wait for the dust to settle on the renewable threat or should I just sell because VNR will continue to perform poorly?

Q: I see that a number of very interest-sensitive vehicles are still included in your income portfolio such as CPD, XHY and BEP.un and a few others.
Given what happened last week and right now with interest rates should we be lightening our position on these types of investments? Put another way, is it your call that medium and long rates will keep on going up?

Q: How would you suggest I invest $100,000 in fixed income today, or would you recommend I hold the cash position into December? My only fixed income holding at present is a $200,000 5 year GIC ladder. Thanks, Barrie
