Q: Hi 5i I'm looking at adding 2 more companies to my income portfolio. At this time I own AW.UN , BNS , BCE , BEP , DH , ET , SPB , VNR , WSP. Would appreciate your thoughts on 2 more recommendations. Thx for a great service. Gerry
Q: Would you consider KEY a reasonable buy at today's prices to be held for dividend and some minor growth? Is there another company you would prefer for the same objectives of dividend and growth? Would you prefer KEY to ALA in view of the latter's potential current issues?
Q: Your answer to the dividend ratio payout for IPL over the past six months is in the 85% range. Over the past couple of years has this ratio been increasing? For an income investor would you consider this dividend payout ratio getting to the area of concern and if so what dividend stock would you consider replacing IPL with either in the same sector or another sector.
Thanks,
Bob

Q: Hi,
I need to prune my financials and I am down to looking at DIV and AD. In looking at DIV, the question I ask is, "Would they have sold Franworks if they weren't confident that they had something in line to redeploy the cash into?" With AD, it is "When will they be able to get some resolution with troubled partners?"
In any otherwise balanced portfolio, which of the two companies would you choose to keep at this time?
Regards,
Robert

Q: EIF is in uncharted territory. It's in favour but it seems inevitable some fund manager is going to take profit after such a run?
Q: I had held alaris for quite a while - great dividend payer, but very bumpy ride on the stock price. I recently sold it all to use the loss to cover another gain, and had planned on buying it back after 30 days. It has continued to drop, however, and now as I near the 30 days I am having second thoughts. Would you consider buying it back now that it is so low, wait for the next quarterly report before buying, or just move on? I would be holding it mainly for income.
Thank-you

- RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust (REI.UN)
- H&R Real Estate Investment Trust (HR.UN)
- Artis Real Estate Investment Trust (AX.UN)
Q: H&R real estate investment trust calls itself an "open-ended" trust compared to others that call themselves a "close-ended" trust.
Is the internal structure of H&R more like a mutual fund? Should it be a concern?
Which of these three do you prefer for a long-term hold, as the only REIT in a portfolio. Thanks for your help.

Q: What do you make of recent news about Transcanada offering lower rates to to companies wanting to transport natural gas in its pipelines? Do you know if this is for existing customers or new customers only? What does this mean for other pipeline companies? Is this an indication of a loss of pricing power? And lastly, what could it mean for the prospects for future dividend increases?
Thanks, and keep up the good work,

- iShares S&P/TSX Canadian Dividend Aristocrats Index ETF (CDZ)
- Vanguard U.S. Dividend Appreciation Index ETF (VGG)
Q: Hello 5i
Would you please offer your opinion of a few individual holdings and other investment vehicles worthy of long-time hold and more importantly dividend reinvestment. I see your a selction of ETF you have been noting are VGG(for USA) and CDZ(for Cad). Is this the top idea or are there other ideas (individually or combination of holdings)?
The goal is to take advantage of the market ride and still feel comfortable with the investments and know more of a good investment is being purchased regularly.
Alternatively, would one just let cash build up and buy shares and units on a quarterly basis instead of utilizing a DRIP?
By example, just bought CAR.UN today. Working to determine whether it makes sense to join the drip; especially with the 5% discount of the Plan.
Thanks for your thoughts

Q: I would appreciate any updates you have on CAM and is it a buy, sell or hold? Thanks team.
Q: I see there have been changes to the S&P/TSX Composite Shareholder Yield Index and that Enercare has been removed and (AD) Alaris Royalty has been added.
I am surprised to see Enercare removed and can you explain how this decision is arrived and also if this will have any impact on the share price of each Enercare and Alaris.
Thanks
John

Q: In one answer you advised that their dividend payout ratio was 70%. S&P Capital report says IPL annual payout ratio was way above 100% throughout past years.. I think you said someplace that you were concerned as they maybe borrowing money to pay dividends higher than than their net earnings..
