Q: The information provided to Tom on September 23 made me wonder about this company, specifically that it’s operating earnings has not covered its dividend for the last 12 months.
I am not a fan of EBITDA which you consider to be a better indicator of the financial situation. Does not INTEREST affect cash flow and the ability to pay dividends ?
You indicate that cash flow varies widely with water levels and electrical generation. With climate change ( drought and floods ) being a significant factor to operating cash flow, should I not be concerned ?
BEP.UN is close to 10 % weighting across my different accounts.
Thanks. Derek

Q: Hi, what do you think would you be the reason that CPX is doing so well lately?
I didn’t buy a year or so ago because it was always rated a notch lower than ENB,TRP, BICP,ATCO etc. Would you say it is a good buy now due to it participating in electricity grid. Or is it getting too expensive?
Thanks

First National Financial Corporation (FN $47.98)
-
MCAN Mortgage Corporation (MKP $23.32)
-
Timbercreek Financial Corp. (TF $7.13)
Q: A number of years ago I held Timbercreek, and got the nice dividend plus some minor capital gains before selling. I am now looking at it again - or something similar like FN or MKP. Could you comment on the outlook for the mortgage companies in general in the current environment (assuming rates continue to go down), and also if we should enter a recession. Would you buy one of these companies today, with income the primary objective, and how (and why) would you rank these 3? Is there a better option in this category?
Thank-you

TELUS Corporation (T $19.27)

Granite Real Estate Investment Trust (GRT.UN $88.04)
-
Dream Industrial Real Estate Investment Trust (DIR.UN $13.35)
Q: Hi Team. With interest rates on the decline I'm thinking REIT's will become more popular. Also concerned with Telus's struggles so thinking of selling Telus and purchasing equal amounts of Dream Industrial REIT and Granite REIT with the sale proceeds. Would you have any concerns with this?
Q: In regards to the restructuring of AW.UN, you recommended one could stay in 100%. Do I need to do anything or will they just change automatically. Will the Dividend be approximately the same? With the $37 price, are they estimating that will be the share price of the new shares? Thank you!
Q: Buy, hold or sell?
Thanks. ram

Q: Hi 5i Team, I Have two questions following today's significant deal between BCE and Rogers.
1- Market reaction was a bit negative on Rogers stock following the deal with BCE, What would be the trigger point to take a position in Rogers following that deal should Rogers stock keep falling.
2 Following that deal between these two giants, which company would you consider the best deal BCE or RCI.B at current levels?
Thx for your opinion.
Michel

Q: What is your view on EIF.Ca for the next year? I am rethinking the stocks in which I currently have losses. Is this one worth holding or is there one with more growth you would suggest for a well diversified portfolio focussed on growth

Q: I was checking out this company on globeinvestor and noticed their distribution of 5 cents was only paid on 4 of 8 months and the other 4 months it only paid 1 cent can you verify this and also would you recommend this company for a 1-2 year hold for income…Thanks
Q: Given the announcement today of BCE selling its interest in MLSE, the market seems to be reacting somewhat positively to the news - I’m curious as what do you think is a comfortable level of debt that the market is looking for? How much more assets do you think the market would like BCE to shed and apply to debt reduction??
Q: assume you meant US$3,5 B for sale of MLSE. does this mean closer to 14% reduction in debt?
Q: Your thoughts please on the BCE news today?
Thx
Thx
Q: What do you think of FRU.ca vs NPI at these levels for a long term hold? Are there tax consequences for a royalty company I should be aware of?
I own CNQ, ENB, CPX, H and a little HSP already but I'm finding it hard to resist the dividends (and hopefully growth) of FRU and NPI. Should I add to one of the companies I already own or buy NPI or FRU as well?

Q: Hello Peter,
The utilities sector is moving up (assuming due to lower rates), but BEP.UN does not seem to get back to its old high; it seems to be range bound. Any idea why this is the case?
