Q: I hold BCE and T for income, as well as CTL in a retirement income portfolio.
I am thinking of switching either BCE or T for BPY for a similar income because of the much reduced (I think) Capex requirements and likely better growth prospects.
My utility and real estate sector holdings currently are 20% and 23%, respectively, each spread over about 12 companies.
What would your thoughts be?
Q: What do you think about the stock Keyera with todays news on the agreement signed with Chevron (to fractionate and handle natural gas liquids from Chevron's Kaybob Duvernay operations near Fox Creek, Alberta.) ? Would you be a buyer of this stock?
Q: I have invested in AI and holding it for close to 1 year. I like this purely for income/dividend yield and stability of capital.
Recently there was a news that they are filing a base shelf prospectus.
Im concerned if this will dilute the value of my shares and dilute the dividend. How much of an impact will this have on the MIC price and the dividend earned? Please advise. Thank you.
Q: I would like your opinion on these 2 companies $bip and $bep as buys right now. Which one would you choose? Or would you be tempted to buy both? I also hold a small position In $BAM.A.
If I were to buy all 3 it would represent 6% of my total Portfolio.
Q: How do you recommend investors handle cash balances while they are waiting for a compelling investment opportunity? Presently, I use a combination of bank "high interest" e-savings accounts (.75% at RBC; 1% at Tangerine) and the "Cash optimizer" within Scotia i-trade accounts (.25%). How can I do better?
Q: Hi Team ,
I am thinking about taking half-positions in AGT and DHX.B two companies that I have been following for a while.
AGT and DHX.B seems both interesting considering their long term potential in their respective market especially following their respective recent steep price drops that make them more attractive. I would like to have your opinion on these Companies.
I also want to add ET in my RRSP. Evertz is a bit intriguing, It seems to me that the market valuation is on the low side (Am I right?). The company seems to offer a good potential but the share price seems to be going nowhere since a while, any idea why.
What is your opinion on taking a position in ET at the current price level?
Q: I am holding a full position (5%+) in each of ALA in a non registered account, PPL in a RRIF account, and ENF in a TFSA. I have decided that I am overexposed to the sector and
must reduce my positions. In your opinion which companies should be held for the long term and which should be sold? I also hold ALA.R in my RRIF as per your suggested opportunity, should the pending transaction be consummated.
Thank you for considering my question.
Q: If I own in a U.S. dollar account,Canadian cross-listed companies which pay a U.S. dollar dividend,do I receive the dividend in U.S. dollars free of any exchange fee and the dividend tax credit? If the answer is yes, where can I find a list of these companies?I have a U.S. dollar trading account with T D.Thanks for your help.
I currently own CANEXUS CORPORATION CONV.UNSEC SUB SER V DEBS 12/31/20 6.0000. With the takeover of Canexus by Chemtrade I tendered my bonds to CHE and then time passed and nothing happened. When I contacted my broker iTrade they sent me the following from the CHE website:
The final report provided by the depositary at the expiration of the Offers indicated that an aggregate principal amount of
C$19,475,000 CEI Series V Debentures had been tendered to the Series V Offer and an aggregate principal amount of C$12,576,000
CEI Series VI Debentures had been tendered to the Series VI Offer. Accordingly, as the conditions to the Offers had not been
satisfied as of the expiration time of the Offers, Chemtrade will not accept any tendered CEI Debentures for payment. All CEI
Debentures tendered pursuant to the Offers will be returned to the tendering debentureholder.***
So, where does this leave me as a Canexus bond holder and is there anything I should do or do things just continue as before?
Q: I presently hold BIP.UN in a RIF. This is primarily to simplify the tax situation of a limited partnership. Does BAM.A have any tax ramifications other than capital gains if held in a trading account?
Q: Just sold my house and not planning to buy one within half a year. I am using part of the proceeds investing in 5i stocks. I want to park the rest of the money somewhere relatively safe for a quarter or half a year. Looking at XHY.to, CVD.to, CPD.to, even KWH_u.to, ALAr.to. A bank is giving you nothing. Please advice
I was curious on your thoughts on the HYLD ETF managed by Peritus. Tim Gramatovich seems like a smart guy with a cautious approach. The yield on the fund is high (approximately matches the yield of the bond/loan book based on a cursory look) and it appears that one would make some money on this holding for the last while considering the NAV and the yield. Your thoughts and a quick confirmation of what you see as the total annual return of this ETF for the last few years would be much appreciated! Looking back 5 years, it looks like the NAV of the ETF got hit pretty hard by the High Yield crisis that was going on a few years back.
Q: Hi, In your opinion, which would be a safer investment over a five year time frame, xhy, U.S. high yield bond index fund or Bam.a Brookfield asset management "A" stock, thanks?
Q: i bought BCE almost 10 years ago after the flaherty income trust debacle. i have not added to the position and it now makes up a small percentage of my portfolio (less than 2%). going forward i struggle to see where BCE will get growth from. I was thinking of selling BCE and buying more BEP.UN. It would bring BEP.UN up to a full 5% weight. To me BEP.UN would provide a little more capital growth along with a higher dividend. These are both held in a registered account. Thoughts?
Q: What is your opinion of AW.UN? I find their new marketing strategy designed to appeal to the millennials with antibiotic free natural foods, etc., appealing and I am considering investing in this company.
