Q: Happy New Year 5i and thanks for being there!
I just transferred TDB171 for $6000 from a non registered investment into my self directed TFSA. Thereby gaining 1.7% in MER fees.
TDB171 is about 50% income and 50% equity.
My thought is to redeem these funds and purchase some dividend DRIP eligible stocks.
Looking at purchasing some income and potential growth stocks.
H, ZUT, and ZWB come to mind because their dividends are currently north of 4% and would allow a DRIP return. With the anticipation of the market rising over the next 3 years and a 3-5 year investment period would you see these as safe moves with a reasonable chance of gain? Any other suggestions in any sectors would be appreciated along with your comments which are also desired and welcome.

Q: Happy New Year to you all...my question is with the market down I am looking at adding another dividend stock from you income portfolio. One that I do not own is Rocky Mountain Dealerships and would like your opinion on adding a 2% position to this holding. Do you see the dividend as safe and also do you see further dividend increases with the problems in the agriculture industry due to rail restrictions or is this just noise and this is a good stock to hold for a five year period...Thank you

Q: In your last response to VNR ( Nov 5) you indicated that you were not too happy with the stock. Do you still feel this way? I have only a 1.8% weight and deciding if I should add to it or sell and put the cash from the sell into CVD and XHY? I do currently own both CVD and XHY but only at a 2.5 % weight. These stock are inside a RRSP.
Thanks

Q: Good Morning,

Currently hold the following in my TFSA ($30,000): BNS, SLF, AQN, AW.UN, AD, SPB, BEP.UN, GSY, SIS, TOY, TSGI, PBH, MX.

Looking to deploy $3,000 and add one or two of the companies addressed in this question. What would be your order of preference in terms of combination of dividend and some growth. Feel free to suggest others.

Thank you.

Q: I'm considering buying HSPX. Doing my research I understand that their strategy is to write out of the money calls which if I'm not mistaken gives more upside to a covered call ETF. Is this both true and a correct assumption ? And also my TD Waterhouse quote shows a yield of 9.5% but when checking various other sites I see from 5% to 7%. What is the real annual yield ? And what is your opinion on this ETF in general ? Thanks Garth.

Q: In the company profile, ERE is noted as being "unincorporated". I am curious if that is significant; for example are their reporting/accounting held to less rigorous scrutiny compared to an "incorporated" company? Also ERE has a +9% dividend but is a new kid on the block - less than a year. The high dividend was there from start. Is this a sign management over reaching - like trying too hard to be noticed? Can ERE maintain it? What is their payout ratio. I have no European exposure, but thinking a small position here is doable...………..Thanks, and all the best in 2019...….Lionel
