Q: I am drastically under invested in utilities. I presently hold the following - each is under a 1% weighting - AQN, ACO, BIPC, BEPC, BEP.UN, CU, and Fortis. Which would you sell? Which would you add to? All are in corporate non reg acct. Also want to increase my US and International exposure. Is there a reason not to do it in this sector?
Would appreciate US and International companies you favour. 5 year hold.
Thank you.

Q: Would you comment on the very high payout ratio of Telus?
Q: Hi 5i,
Please help me understand something. Was the recent substantial run up in LIF's price since mid June followed by today's substantial decline of over 6% all attributable to the special dividend of $1.75 that was announced on June 15 with an ex-date of today? Are there those out there who chase dividend payouts even if it means putting up 40K to realize 1.75K, while also assuming the risk that the stock might head south?
If so, is there anything to be learned about LIF's future prospects from the recent dividend driven activity and, if not dividend driven, what else might have caused such a decline today? For such a pricey stock it seems pretty volatile.
Thanks for your insight.
Peter

Q: Why are these renewable energy companies down so much from a year ago? Up 54% & 133% respectively incl. dividends. Are they keepers for long-term in RRSP?
Q: Given the near-term performance of the Utilities sector, it seems these are beginning to underperform the general market. Is the performance related to heightened concerns of pending rate hikes? If so, would it be appropriate to take a wait/see approach and to DCA in the sector over the next little while? Thank you.
Q: Hi,
I have no exposure to electric vehicles (EV’s) within my portfolio.
As I not interested in investing in any Chinese EV stocks I am quite limited to Tesla.
However, I am not very comfortable with the cult like following of Tesla.
Is there anyway I could get some exposure to this disruptive industry , directly or indirectly and would you be able to recommend a few stocks ?
Thanks

Could I have you thoughts on Algonquin Power?
Would you consider it a buy, sell or hold at this time in a income portfolio?
Thank Steve

Q: I am looking to buy a renewable with a decent dividend for a non-registered account. Please let me know you rationale. Of these 3 , which one would you recommend? I understand that this sector has come down recently. Which one has the best upside in terms of valuation? If there are others that you would recommend please let me know.
Thanks

Q: Good morning,
I have owned PKI for some time, and it seems to be range bound. Will there be any further growth? Should I sell and invest elsewhere?
I really value your opinion. Thank you for your input.

Q: The Dividend Updates section of your website indicates that Pembina Pipeline raised their dividend by 4.7% on June 1st. I cannot find any other reference to this dividend increase anywhere. Is your website correct? If it is, do you have the exact dollar amount of the new dividend? Thank you!
Q: Hi gang
I just noticed that LIF has raised their divi to 14.64% for June 29th. It was somewhere between 8.5 to 10+ish ....Do you know why? Am I seeing things?
Thanks as usual for your sage advice...

Q: I own both PPL and BIP.UN. It seems that IPL wants a deal with PPL having rejected BIP.UN's latest offer.
My question is the "potential deals" that PPL is chasing down. They are looking to partner with indigenous groups for TMX and of course the IPL deal.
Will their balance sheet be able to handle this if they are successful with both?
What are your thoughts on the management team's ability to combine these businesses into 1 large company?
Does that change your opinion about PPL as an "income" stock to an income stock with growth potential?
Thanks for your comments

Q: Dear 5i,
with respect to oil and CNQ.
With oil prices being higher now what is stopping the Saudi's from
increasing production to take advantage of the higher oil prices?
Does this create meaning full risk to CNQ and oil stock prices in general? Am I over simplifying the commodity risk?
thanks

Q: Can I have your perspective on DRIP’s. What would your top 5 companies be if you were to set and forget leaving the company/drip to do it’s thing? Thx as always.

Brookfield Renewable Corporation Class A Exchangeable Subordinate Voting Shares (BEPC)
Q: In a TFSA, which of these two would you buy today? I know you have answered this question in the past - and that you’ve said to focus on yield, but doesn’t BEPC deserve some type of premium even in a registered account?
