Q: Looking at the insider trading of Enbridge Directors, I noted that the number of shares held by the Directors in May 2024 was over 900,000. The corresponding number of shares held by Directors on February 20, 2025 dropped to about 210,000.
Can you please comment with respect to inside trading at this company ? Is the drop in the number of shares held by the directors an issue ?
Thanks

Certainly it is a trend that needs to be watched. On the other hand, in the past six months, total insider (non directors as well) ownership (net) has increased 2.11% (not percentage points, just 2.11% of total). But this is a positive offset. In the early part of the year, there is often insider selling, however, due to tax reasons. Considering the size of the company ($129B) and its long history, it is not a company we would really expect to have a huge insider ownership.
