Because BN is such a well run company, but also because its business mix is quite diversified, we would consider it a very good choice for the purposes outlined in the question. That being said, there is still single company risk here, and for small amounts starting out some investors would be more comfortable with a diversified ETF such as ZSP, which holds interests in the companies than make up the S&P 500. BN we like a lot, but it will have both more risk and more potential than a diversified ETF.
