We think some of the most common and biggest regrets investors tend to have are less related to investing in an underperforming stock or a bankrupt company (as long as it is not a significant allocation for investors), but rather it is selling once-in-a-lifetime winners like NVDA, CSU or AVGO, etc. too early for one reason or another.
These winners are extremely rare, and over the lifetime of investing, a few of them will do most of the heavy lifting of carrying the majority of returns in a portfolio. We can’t emphasize enough the importance of letting the winners run.
Authors of this answer, directors, partners and/or officers of 5i Research and/or affiliated companies have a financial or other interest in AVGO, NVDA.
