Q: It seems the economies of Canada and the United States are diverging and not for the better in Canada. This makes it difficult for me to buy Canadian companies as opposed to American. My question is, have any Canadian companies foreseen an advantage to shifting a good part of their operations to the United States to take advantage of the possibilities for making better profits?
5i Research Answer:
Lots of Canadian companies have significant US business. BN for example had $23B in revenue in the US last year. TRI about $5B. WSP $6B. These are among our favourite companies, but having US exposure is certainly an additional positive feature.
