Q: I would appreciate your thoughts on ZID and JAPN. Do you think investing in India and Japan is a good idea and why. You may have thoughts on other ETF's that invest in these countries. Your input would be appreciated. Thank You.

5i Research Answer:

Both stock markets have performed very well to start the year. Government support and growing national productivity would be the main reasons for investment in both markets. Emerging markets also offer good diversification to predominately North American portfolios. We think ZID is a strong option and the fee at 0.67% is inline with other funds. We typically like INDA and XID as well, but ZID has outperformed both and is available in CAD while being unhedged which we like. We think JAPN looks good for a CAD option to invest in Japan. The fee is not overly high at 0.50% and it appears to be quite liquid.
