Q: Can you tell me if Brookfield has divested of its shares in Superior Plus? I had thought they would have bought them out by now. Also, has Superior Plus cut their dividend. I bought it years ago for the yield but I am down considerably. Would you cut your losses and move on or is it too cheap to sell now.
And if I sell, what to replace it with.

5i Research Answer:
Brookfield owns preferred shares of SPB and has not announced any divestiture. SPB was formerly an income trust and did change its dividend when it converted back to a corporation. It also cut its dividend in 2011. Last year it moved to a quarterly payout but at the same rate. We too expected Brookfield to buy this, at some point. We would consider it a HOLD for income.
