Q: I own BITB, ETHE and BITC. I would like to buy Solana. What is the best way to do so without buying the actual currency?

What is, in your opinion the best etf for crypto currencies in general?

Thank you.

5i Research Answer:

Currently, the only ETFs available for spot crypto exposure are for either Bitcoin or Ether. There are ETFs for more general 'blockchain' exposure, which have a variety of bitcoin mining stocks and crypto exchange names.

While there are currently no Solana ETFs available in the market, a few have been filed (QSOL with 3iQ in Canada, and VanEck and 21Shares in the US). It is unclear when these will be available, however, some estimates are for between the end of 2024 and mid-2025.

For spot crypto exposure, we like IBIT for bitcoin exposure (lowest fees, reputable firm, Blackrock), and ETHQ for Ether (includes staking yield in the NAV which helps to offset its MER).
