I know you have answered this about Topicus special dividend. I find it odd that in the early stages of the company's existence , it is paying out a special dividend. Could this be a sign that the company sees little appetite for acquiring companies and will focus on organic growth? What is a good etf that excludes the magnificent 7 , SPY minus magnificent 7.. Appreciate it and thanks for the service.
There might be too much second-guessing here. Dividends are at the discretion of the board. IF TOI does not continue to make acquisitions then maybe it was the wrong move. But of course this remains to be seen. The company still has plenty of capacity to do lots of deals. Maybe CSU needed some dry powder for deals and as the largest holder it will get a nice chunk of cash. Maybe insiders wanted a bonus. With the company not talking, anything is just speculation. A 'surprise' doesn't in and of itself make it 'bad'. The proof will have to be in the pudding, and in what the company does over the next 18 months. An ETF without any MAG7 is hard to find. RSP is an equal weight S&P 500 ETF so exposure to any one stock is dramatically reduced.
