Although both companies operate in the same field of e-commerce. Fundamentally, we don’t think there is too much overlap between the two.
SHOP pursues a capital-light business model that does not get involved too much on the logistics side of the business (anymore). Instead, SHOP operates largely as a software company that charge subscription and payment solutions.
AMZN is more capital-intensive, it charges fees and advertising from third-party sellers, as well as Prime which is very different. On top of that, AMZN's AWS division is a different business than SHOP altogether.
We don’t think there would be too much overlap owning both.
