5i Research Weekly Rockets and Duds

Welcome to week seven of 5i Research's market ROCKETS AND DUDS

Tempus AI TEM 🚀🚀🚀 Ho Hum. Yet another AI stock in last week's Rockets and Duds report. Tempus AI rose 46% last week after former US House speaker Nancy Pelosi disclosed a purchase of as much as $100,000 worth of call options in the company. Ms. Pelosi, who would have made a salary of about $240,000, is somehow worth $240 million after multiple years of astute stock trades. She is followed closely by traders because of this. There is even a Pelosi ETF in Europe. But we are sure there are no conflicts here. Yes, we are sure.  Sort of.

Oklo Inc. OKLO 🚀🚀🚀 Another rich guy with connections is Sam Altman, the man behind OpenAI. He has backed Oklo, which surged 60% last week on multiple partnership announcements and continued interest in the energy sector and its insatiable demand for power. Wedbush Securities also raised its target price on the stock significantly on Friday, from $26 to $45.

Nano Nuclear NNE 🚀🚀🚀 Hey buddy, check this stock out! It's going NUCLEAR! Nano shares rose 80% last week, rising 29% on Tuesday following Trump's inauguration comments about the nuclear industry, and then rose every other day of the week as well, with new news that the company had acquired a portfolio of patents to enhance its transportable and compact modular nuclear generator systems. The company has minimal reported revenue so far, but no matter. It's just a matter of time before you will have a small nuclear reactor running your dishwasher at the cottage.

New Oriental Education and Technology Group Inc. EDU 🚫🚫🚫 Everyone is always saying how smart Chinese students are. Well, maybe they're not so smart now! New Oriental, based in Beijing, offers students language training, test preparation and assessment tests. It dropped 23% last week on a third-quarter earnings miss, weak guidance and several downgrades. But wait, maybe the students really are smarter, and that's why business is less robust at New Oriental? Now I'm confused.

Agilysys Inc. AGYS 🚫🚫🚫 You know those point of sale (POS) terminals that make you pay for things everywhere you go? Man I hate those. 'I have to pay?' What's up with that? Well, investors in Agilysys this week might have a new meaning behind the acronym POS, perhaps referencing the company's shares, after it cut guidance and the stock dropped the most in five years, falling 24% last week. Now down 30% for the year, its 71X earnings multiple might not attract new buyers, either.
